Federation publishes its Spending Review representation
The Federation publishes its representation for the government’s upcoming Spending Review, where it sets public spending budgets. Framed and driven by the needs of our members, key points include greater support for freelancers, a replacement to European funding schemes such as Creative Europe, and a need for ambitious longer-term investment in the sector.
Four-week England lockdown is announced, as well as extension of Job Retention (furloughing) Scheme
The Federation welcomes the extension of the furloughing scheme, but calls for urgent parity for those who are self-employed, as England’s creative sector is hit hard by another lockdown.
“A third of the creative workforce is freelance, and many will see all of their work cancelled as a result of these new measures. They cannot be expected to live on 40% of their income or less, whilst colleagues on payroll receive 80%.”
